Anxiety: Causes, Symptoms and Treatment

What is Anxiety?


Anxiety is a natural response to stress. It’s a feeling of fear or prediction of what will happen in the future. The first day of school, going to a job interview, or giving a speech may cause most people to feel fearful and nervous. If you become anxious about moving to a new place, starting a new job, or taking a test is a normal rather anxiety disorder. But it may motivate you to work harder and to do a better job. Ordinary anxiety is a feeling that comes and goes, but does not interfere with your everyday life.

Anxiety based on the symptoms, severity, and duration can be experienced in several different disorders. Such as:

  • Panic disorder: is a recurring panic attacks at unexpected times. A person with panic disorder is concerned in fear of the next panic attack.
  • Phobia: excessive fear of a specific object, situation, or activity, which one time have already been occurred.
  • Social anxiety disorder: extreme fear of being judged by others in social situations or making mistakes and experiencing shame.
  • Obsessive-compulsive disorder: recurring and preoccupied irrational thoughts that cause specific and repeated behaviors.
  • Separation anxiety disorder: fear of being away from home or loved ones, which is often formed in childhood courses.
  • Illness anxiety disorder: A constantly worry about your physical or mental health, that is called formerly hypochondria.
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD): anxiety following a traumatic event, such as a flood, earthquake and horrible car accident, etc.
